When a travel agency's CEO launches a podcast, you expect it to be about travel.
Not so in the case of Lindsey Epperly, CEO of Jetset World Travel.
Earlier this month, Epperly launched "Who Made You the Boss?", a podcast for modern professionals, both in and outside of the travel industry.
"We made the focus of 'Who Made You the Boss?' to go beyond the walls of travel-specific conversations because Jetset takes a holistic approach to professional development," Epperly said.
That approach is working for Jetset. Over the past three years, the agency has quadrupled in size, she said.
"We believe in amplifying our team not simply through opportunities surrounding the travel products they can sell, but by learning to be kinder humans, more resilient professionals and more engaged businesspeople," Epperly said.
The new podcast features leaders from various industries. One of its end goals is to help listeners balance their personal and professional lives by talking about things like burnout, imposter syndrome and valuing professional development.
Such topics are relevant to travel advisors, especially independent contractors and agency owners. Burnout and balancing work and home lives are particularly of interest today, when research shows more and more consumers are turning to travel advisors, many of whom are, in turn, busier than ever.
Jetset itself is a sponsor of the podcast alongside others. Originally, Epperly's agency was branded as Epperly Travel, but pivoted to the Jetset branding after acquiring Jetset World Travel.
The first season of "Who Made You the Boss?" is currently airing. It will feature a variety of guests, including activists, marketers and others. Travel advisors might recognize one guest in particular: Jacqui Gifford, editor in chief of Travel + Leisure.
Epperly is already planning a second season.
