Accommodations range considerably in Uzbekistan. Older properties built for foreign visitors and run by the state are rated first-class or second-class, but they're often either basic or abysmal in spite of a high price tag. Rates at these hotels are often based on a multitiered system, with foreigners paying a higher amount. A newer generation of private hotels and bed-and-breakfasts has cropped up in all the cities, and they're generally more comfortable and better deals.
